And now Automatic LiveUpdate is finally working. I ran NRnR AGAIN and let it re-install and this time it finally worked. I am a gluten for punishment so one more shot. Crap! I had to restart my system again to clear it. This time Norton hung during the startup process. I ran NRnR again but let it do the re-install. I gave Norton one more chance before dumping it for good. I was about to give up and go back to Windows Defender which was working just fine.

It looked OK but then I got a notice that my Trial had expired and when trying to activate it said there was a server error.

After a system restart I then went to my Norton account and did the Download and Install on This Computer option. I decided to try again and I ran NRnR again but went to advance and did a Remove Only which I believe cleaned out my settings.
Still Automatic LiveUpdate does not work. I user NRnR and it removed then downloaded and installed 22.2.0.104. I got tired of waiting for a fix from Norton and decided to re-install NSBU. I may see the notice while I do my data chores on the desktop. I'll leave it idle for some time after that completes and then check if history records an A-LU.

The Win 8.1 laptop, wall powered not battery, is running a full sys-scan. I suspect that the LU server controlled by Norton IT has some setting/switches changed while phased random, hot fix, or some other data (marketing sales announcements?) are being distributed through interactive LU. PhoneMan, I cross referenced the hot fix here in case the two issues A-LU off and Windows Firewall control disabled, that happened with the 22.12.0.104 phased random distribution, could both be remedied by the hot fix. This is the desktop Win 7 Pro, Norton Partner CenturyLink Norton Antivirus Online, the product is in name only because the executable are no longer NAV, they have all changed to NortonSecurity. I must have blinked and not seen the notice by the clock. This morning after over 2 hours running idle 2018 02 17 - History shows that A-LU did run and install protection updates, just under 270k total traffic. The last LU, interactive had been 2018 02 15 11:54aMST. History lacks any record of anything done. Almost 4 hours running idle yesterday afternoon, 2018 02 16, key board untouched, Mus electraphotomecha on its back: during the first half hour there was a message by the clock that Norton was DOING (?) while my system was idle.
